ESG Profile
As one of the first financial institutions worldwide, we are committed to reduce our CO2 balance sheet to net zero by 2050 at the latest. The Bank underlines its decisiveness to actively contribute to the sustainable transformation of society and the economy. In April 2021, we therefore also joined the Net-Zero Banking Alliance of UNEP FI. By 2040 we want to reduce the emissions of our own banking operations to zero as well as having a 100% climate-neutral supplier portfolio. To support our customers in their transformation, we are steadily expanding our range to sustainable products to mobilise more than 300 billion Euros for the sustainable transformation by 2025.
Commerzbank regularly publishes comprehensive reports on progress of its sustainabiltiy performance according to several reporting standards. Since reporting year 2014, we have released the so-called GRI Report. The GRI Report is also our Communication on Progress (COP) regarding the ten principles of the UN Global Compact, which we joined in 2006.
